Maurice A. Nelson, 88, of Kalamazoo, died Jan. 12, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice after a brief illness. Maurie was born Aug. 23, 1926, at the Clark Hospital in Buchanan, Michigan, to William M. and Esther A. (Peterson) Nelson.

In 1948 he married his high school sweetheart, Jo Anne Dalrymple, who survives. They were blessed with four children: Richard (Ali Rogan) of Newport News, Virginia; Timothy (Nancy Johnson) of Traverse City; and Pamela Nelson and Laurel Nelson, of Kalamazoo.

Also surviving are grandsons Leland Nelson and Jacob and Andrew Texel, and a brother, David. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the spring at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
