Pompey resigns from Cassopolis board

The Cassopolis Board of Education is looking for a new board member following the resignation of Jason Pompey.

Pompey resigned effective Jan. 18 due to personal health and medical conditions.

“Jason was elected in 2011 and served from January 2012 until January 2015,” Cassopolis Superintendent Tracy Hertsel said. “He was a board member who promoted not spending more than the district took in financially, but always had the best interest of the students.”

Applications are on the district’s website at www.cassopolis.k12.mi.us or at the main office located at 725 Center St.

Applications are available for those wishing to fill Pompey’s seat, for a term running from February 2015 until the November 2016 election.

Deadline for submitting an application is noon on Friday, Feb. 6.

Candidates are to attend the regular Feb. 9 board meeting for brief interviews.

The meeting, will be held at 7 p.m. at the Squires Education Center.

Action on the board vacancy will be taken at a special meeting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 12. Once appointed, the new board members will be sworn into office.
