Laura Feece, 67, of Niles

Laura Feece, 67, of Niles, Michigan died with her family gathered around at 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. Laura had chosen – and her family agreed – to offer the gift of tissue to restore other’s lives.

She was born on June 6, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana to Robert K. and Donna T. (Wynn) Kime, Sr. She was graduated from Bremen (Indiana) High School, and attended Southwestern Michigan College. She has lived in Niles since 1968, and has been employed at Majerek’s, at the former Niles plant of Simplicity Pattern Company, and keeping the books for the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2094 in Niles.

Laura was a member of the Northway Church of Christ in South Bend. She had volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America, and with her husband had provided a foster home for 15 children in 10 years. She enjoyed reading novels, having pet cats and dogs in the house, and had traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Hawaii.

On Dec. 16, 1967, in Mishawaka, Indiana she married Gerald D. “Jerry” Feece with whom she celebrated last month the forty-seventh anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes her husband, Jerry Feece and their daughter, Kim Sue (Kurt) Kronewitter of Granger, Indiana; granddaughter, Ashlyn Maya Kronewitter; Laura’s father, Robert Kime, Sr. of Mishawaka; Laura’s twin sister, Linda (George) Bond of Niles and their sister, Luanne Zehring of Mishawaka and brother Robert “Bob” (Dixie) Kime of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania; Jerry’s siblings, James (Judy) Feece of New Carlisle, Indiana, Linda (& Glenn) Anderson of Chillicothe, Ohio and Roger (Flora) Feece of San Diego, California; and many nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Kime in October of 1998.

Services for Laura Feece will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the Northway Church of Christ with Brother Edgar Erskin officiating assisted by Brother Chuck Wotring, both of the church. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Contributions in memory of Laura may be made to the Northway Church of Christ or to Humane Society of St. Joseph County in Mishawaka. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
