Horace V. “Horsey” Wishart

Horace V. “Horsey” Wishart, 86 years old, formerly of Vandalia and Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Jan. 15, 2015 while a patient at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis, after an illness.

He was born April 1, 1928, in South Bend, the son of Henry C. and Dorothy (Reich) Wishart.
While living in Edwardsburg, Horsey met Pat B. Way, and they were married April 30, 1949, in Edwardsburg and she passed June 24, 2008. He is survived by their children; Bonnie (Steve) Ricky of Bristol, Karen (Butch) Hermenitt of Edwardsburg, Lynette Wishart and her companion Earl Keech of Elkhart, Barry (Kathleen) Wishart of Cassopolis and Dan (Janet) Wishart of Cassopolis. There are eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters; Florence Gordon of Niles, Juanita Starkweather and Margaret Brock, both of Bradenton, Florida and two brothers, Charles (Alice) Wishart of Fennville and David (Pat) Wishart of Buchanan.

Family who have passed are his parents, his loving wife Patricia, a sister, Virginia Kehoe and a grandson, Daniel Young, Sr.

Horsey worked on a farm and owned his own farm. He also drove a truck for ‘over-the-road’ hauling. He was the former owner of a Case Tractor dealership in Edwardsburg and most recently, owned a sand blasting company in Vandalia, known as “Blast-It”. He was a member of the Tractor Puller’s Club and a member of the St. Joe Valley Old Engine Club. Horsey and his wife Pat participated in many parades driving some of its restored older model tractors.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road., Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance will be on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the church, where all may gather for one hour before the service. Officiating will be the Rev. Brenda Gordon, Horsey’s niece. Interment will follow at Edwardsburg Cemetery.
