Wellness center growing

The Cassopolis Board of Education approved a sublease agreement between the Lakeland Immediate Care Center and Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network.

The agreement allows Woodlands to begin providing mental health care to the students and staff of Cassopolis Public Schools at the new Ranger Wellness Center.

“What it is that now Woodlands can take the space that was set aside for them up in the wellness center and service kids from there,” Cassopolis Superintendent Tracy Hertsel said. “It gives us the protection and it is renewable each year. Everything is in place, the grant is secured so we will have services up there for the students, but we need to have this agreement in place.”

The board also accepted a bid from Quality Masonry to repair a leak at Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School near the gymnasium.

The bid amount was not to exceed $14,500.

Cassopolis will also be looking at taking bids for its audit services.

The district, in looking to save money, has decided to accept bids for its annual audit services.

In other business:

• The board approved an overnight trip to Camp Friedenswald for the fifth grade in the spring.

• Hired Kelly Hargrove as a track coach.

The next regular meeting of the board of education will be at 7 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Squires Education Center.
