Darek Jamal Bullock-Mills, 19, of Dowagiac, is facing preliminary charges of burglary forced entry and possession of burglary tools, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Anthony D. Haynes, 19, of South Bend, Indiana, was also arrested and is facing the same charges.

Police are searching for another 19-year-old male from Niles Township who they believe assisted in the breaking and entering.

Berrien County deputies were dispatched to the Rural King at around 1:13 a.m. in reference to an activated alarm.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the store had been broken into. Further information showed that three individuals were responsible for breaking into the store.

One of the deputies who responded to the scene observed a vehicle fleeing from the area. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

One of the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and escaped apprehension.

The other two occupants of the vehicle — Haynes and Bullock-Mills — were detained. During the investigation, the officers learned they were responsible for breaking into the Rural King Supply Store.

Haynes and Bullock-Mills were lodged at the Berrien County Jail pending arraignment in Berrien County Trial Court.
