Timothy James Smith, 60, of Vandalia, lost his fight from a long battle of cancer on Dec. 24, 2014.

Hew as born March 31, 1954, in Niles. Survivors include two sons: Brian (Chelie) Smith and Brad (Dawn) Smith; five grandchildren: Sean, Kately, Paige and Caiden Smith and Kayla Conway, all of Niles; a brother Tom and two nephews Randy and Jason Smith, of Vandalia.

His passions in life were stock racing from many local short tracks, karaoke and pontoon boating with family and friends.

Both parents, James and Josephine Smith, preceded him in death.

At Tim’s request, cremation has taken place at Hoven Funeral Home in Buchanan. A celebrationwill follow Jan. 24, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Bertrand Township Community Hall on Buffalo Road in Buchanan.
