Hal B. Moore, 74, of Niles, Michigan died of cancer on January 3, 2015, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

Hal was born in Vandalia, Illinois on September 17th, 1940 to Hal and Irene Moore. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served from 1957 until 1967 as a dental technician. He spent a lot of his time on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. After the Navy Hal moved to Niles, Michigan to be with family. He worked for Professional Dental in Elkhart, Indiana from 1967 to his retirement in 2008.

He enjoyed spending time on the water and fishing with his nephew Don Leinonen. Hal also had a love for history. His family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the Civil War Trust at 1156 15th Street NW, Suite 900, Washington, D.C. 20005.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Irene Moore and his older sister RoseMary Collinsworth.

Hal is survived by two children, a daughter Kimberly (Deidre Mitchum) Moore of Granger, Indiana and a son, Steven (Jennifer) Moore of Orland Park, Illinois; two grandchildren Kendall Moore of Granger, and Brady Moore of Orland Park; a brother, John Moore of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister Ann Huber of Edgewater, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Hal’s wishes he has been cremated. His family will be holding a memorial service at a later time.
