Ilene “Dit” Drummond, 86, of Vandalia, formerly of Elberton, Georgia, died peacefully Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

Ilene was born July 28, 1928 in Elberton, Georgia to John and Lizzie Mae (Rucker) Carter. Her parents preceded her in death.

Dit was a lively, outgoing person who loved people and enjoyed life.

Ilene will be greatly missed by family and friends. She leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Johnnie Mae Simpson of Vandalia; one brother, Charlie (Alice) Harper of Chicago; special cousins, Daisy Hervey and Georgia Yarbrough, both of Vandalia, Zephree Fulton of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, December 23, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Rayvon Bufkin officiating. Mrs. Drummond will be laid to rest in Bogue Street Memorial Garden in Vandalia.
