Agnes Mary Mitchell, 83, of Niles, passed away at Lakeland Hospital, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014.

Agnes was born on April 15, 1931, to the late Anton and Agnes Dsida in Chicago, Illinois. After school Agnes wed the love of her life, Richard Mitchell, on Oct. 14, 1950, in Niles. Together they had two sons. Though Agnes was a home maker most of her life when Richard retired from farming the two spent much of their time happily operating and running the family farm and the Busy Chick Egg Farm.

Agnes always loved fishing, watching the Cubs with Richard and spending time at the Casino playing slots. She also enjoyed spending her winters in Lake Okeechobee, Florida with her husband and spending their summers at Kelsey Lake in Dowagiac.

Agnes is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard and sister, Kay Lubansky.

She is survived by her two sons, Bruce (Melba) Mitchell of Niles and David (Dawn) Mitchell of Cassopolis; six grandchildren, Amy (Doug) Luczkowski of Niles, Chad (Tammy) Mitchell of Niles, Christopher (Oday) Mitchell of Cassopolis, Amanda Mitchell of Edwardsburg, Mindy Prince of Niles and Matt (Amy) McGlophlen of South Bend, Indiana; several great grandchildren and brother-in-law Stanley Mitchell of Niles.

A memorial service to honor Agnes’ life will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles at 11 a.m. with a time of visitation one hour prior.
