Niles hold off Loy Norrix 70-66

The Niles boys basketball team rebounded from its first loss of the season to defeat visiting Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 70-66 Tuesday night.

The Vikings (2-1) trailed for much of the first half and were down 33-26 at halftime.

A 25-point explosion in the third quarter helped Niles erase the deficit and allowed the Vikings to take a 51-45 lead into the final quarter.

Niles held off a late challenge from the Knights to earn the victory.

Ra’Quon Glenn led the Vikings with 14 points, while Gabe Stokes added 13 and Derek Brown eight.

Eddie Gillon scored a game-high 25 points for Loy Norriz. Spencer Welsh finished with 10 points.

Niles now heads into Christmas break and will not play another game until Jan. 6 when it travels to Dowagiac.
