Police investigating armed robbery

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery of the Marathon gas station on M-60 east of Jones, which was robbed at approximately 2:45 p.m. Dec. 10.

An armed gunman entered the store demanding money from a cashier behind the counter. After this the suspect fled the scene, employees at the store were able to obtain a description of the vehicle and direction of travel.

On Friday, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the same cashier was working when they noticed a suspicious vehicle matching the vehicle involved in the robbery from two days prior and immediately called 911 to report the situation while a customer confronted a subject in the parking lot hiding near the corner of the store.

The suspicious subject immediately left the area and fled in the vehicle that had been observed by cashier. Officers of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene to investigate and collect evidence. A short time later a vehicle matching was located by Cassopolis Police Department at a business.

Contact was made with the occupants by both Cassopolis Police and Sheriff Deputies. Investigation continued into the situation and consequently three subjects were arrested and lodged at the Cass County Jail for conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of unregistered handgun and possession of methamphetamine. These subjects will be arraigned at the Cass County Court House.

All three subjects are living in the Elkhart, Indiana area.
