Deborah Diane West, formerly of Niles

Deb was born in Friend, Nebraska Feb. 27, 1949, to Roy and Lorrayne (Pat) West. She passed from this life to her eternal home surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 8, 2014, after a two-year courageous battle with cancer.

She was baptized into the Lord’s service at Zion Lutheran Church Tobias, Nebraska and Confirmed in 1963 at St. Peters Lutheran Church Deshler Nebraska, where she also attended grade school.

She graduated from Deshler High School and from Hastings College of Cosmetology.

Deb moved to Niles, where she worked as a beautician and later changed careers to Human Resources, working at National Standard Co and Clark Equipment. She then began working at Chemical Bank, St. Joseph, Michigan in 2004 where she was promoted to Assistant Vice President and Employee Benefits Officer in 2007. She was responsible for the administration of individual and group retirement accounts.

Deb loved to spend time with her dear friends, coworkers, family and Babe the cat.

Deb loved most, if not all, sports. She enjoyed playing tennis and golf. She loved Notre dame Hockey and had great seats right on the glass. She also loved watching basketball, football, baseball and NASCAR racing especially #88 Dale Jr. One of her best days recently was spent with family watching Dale win at Martinsville. She loved old TV shows and all kinds of movies from comedy to mystery and Sci-Fi.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Pat West of Deshler.

Deb is survived by her brothers, Allen and wife Julie West of Conway Arkansas, Tim and wife Donna West of Lincoln Nebraska, James and wife Mary West of Malcolm Nebraska, nine nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins with a host of close friends and business acquaintances in the Niles, Michigan area.

She has chosen cremation and a prayer service Friday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m. at Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home 4040 A Street, Lincoln Nebraska followed by a life celebration service at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Deshler Nebraska, Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10:30 a.m.
