Two Cass County men facing meth charges

Two men have been charged with operating a meth lab Thursday, after being taken into custody following a search by the Cass County Drug Enforcement of a Volinia Township resident, according to officials with the county sheriff’s office.

Brett Romig, 32, from Vandalia and Rodney Williams, 32, from Marcellus, were arrested and lodged at the Cass County Jail, following their arrest Wednesday afternoon. Both subjects were arraigned in the Cass County 4th District Court the next day.

According to police, the arrests stem from an investigation conducted by officers with drug enforcement, who were assisting parole agents with the Michigan Department of Corrections in searching a home on the 16000 block of Dutch Settlement Street. During their search, they discovered components used in the manufacturing of meth, meth paraphernalia, marijuana and firearms inside of the residence.

Romig was charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth, maintaining a meth lab, possession of meth, felony firearms and possession of marijuana, Romig’s bond was set at $30,000. Williams was charged with conspiracy to manufacture meth, maintaining a meth lab, possession of meth and felony firearm, William’s bond was set at $25,000.
