On Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, God called home one of his ‘Angel Band’ members to take his place in the choir.

Larry Charles Martin, Sr., of Bolivar, Tennessee, died quietly in his home after a battle with multiple health issues.

Larry was born Aug. 8, 1941 in Tuckerman, Arkansas, and later relocated to Dowagiac, Michigan, where he met and married Carol Jean Toy in 1965. They resided in Michigan until 1981 and then relocated to the Memphis, Tennessee area, where they settled.

Larry leaves his loving wife, Carol Jean Martin after 49 years of marriage; six children, Kelly (Dennis) Coyne, Louann (Rick) Waldron, Leann (Scott) Davis and Larry Dean Martin from his previous marriage, and Shelly (John) Udall and Larry Charles (Teresa) Martin II from his marriage to Carol. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. He had nine siblings, six surviving him: Mary (Les) Peterson, Millie (Ray) Dings, Rene (Floyd) Isbell, Brenda (Don) Slocum, Vaughn Martin and Tony Martin and three deceased: John D. “Jay” (Joan) Martin, Geneva “Joann Martin and Terry martin.

Larry’s passions were his family, his music and his art of painting and building cars. From rock-n-roll to the 60s to country in the 80s to bluegrass/gospel in the 90s and beyond, he loved it all. His cars went from ugly ducklings to works of art.

Larry is a retired law enforcement officer, serving from 1979 to 2003 when he retired.

Services for Larry will be offered at a celebration gathering on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at 1155 Hannis Rd. in Bolivar, Tennessee from 6 to 8 p.m. All friends and family are welcome.
