A dozen Niles High School students have been selected to participate on the 2014 Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District 6 All-Star Band.
The band includes approximately the top 80 musicians from 18 different area high schools, including New Buffalo, Buchanan, Berrien Springs, Dowagiac, Coloma, Edwardsburg, South Haven,
Bangor, Lakeshore, St. Joseph, Decatur, River Valley, Paw Paw, Bridgman, Niles-Brandywine, Waterveliet, Gobles and Niles.
Niles Band Director Joshua Doe said students were chosen based on their auditions.
“This is a big honor for our students, because they were selected out of all the schools in District 6,” Doe said. “This is a combination of some of the most motivated and musically driven students from across Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties. It will be a wonderful opportunity for them to make music with talented musicians.”
The all-stars will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 22 at Bridgman High School. Renowned composer Brian Balmages will conduct.
