Christian recording artist Dave Boyer is headlining a benefit concert for the Pregnancy Care Center this weekend in Niles.

Michiana Christian Embassy, 1922 E. Main St., is hosting the event, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15.

“Dave is coming because of his heart for this cause and for the ministry of the center,” said Jeff Whittaker, senior pastor at Michiana Christian Embassy. “He sees the value in what Niles is doing.”

In addition to the concert, which will feature the Edwardsburg Jazz Band, the event will include a live and silent auction.

All proceeds will go directly to the Pregnancy Care Center of Niles, a community funded outreach providing accurate and complete information ranging from prenatal development and birth plans to parenting and healthy relationships.

Jamie Boling, community relations coordinator for the Pregnancy Care Center, said organization leaders would likely use the money to help update the center’s ultrasound machine.

The organization offers free ultrasounds and pregnancy testing.

“It will be a fun and casual event that will help support a good cause,” Boling said. “The center is not just for pregnant women. It is really about building healthy relationships from the beginning all the way through. A big misconception is you have to be in crisis mode to come in and get these services.

The benefit concert is a great place to begin shopping for the holiday season, Boling said.

Up for auction are several themed gift baskets, single items and gift certificates. Smaller items will be raffled off throughout the night.

There is no cost to attend.

Most of the items for auction were donated from local businesses. Among the items are two tickets to see Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, a three-month membership to the YMCA and a Thomas Kinkade painting.

A desert buffet featuring tasty treats provided by Michiana Christian Embassy will follow the concert.
