With wide-open red doors, warm and welcoming open hearts, and open minds, Cassopolis United Methodist Church invites the community to come celebrate its 176th anniversary Sunday.

A prelude will begin at 9:45 a.m. with music, two grand pianists and four string instruments. The service will begin at 10 a.m.

An open house immediately follows with refreshments, appetizers and desserts.

Over the past year the congregation has done an extensive amount of work on their buildings and their souls.

“I would like to apologize for any hurt, abuse, neglect and much more that has ever been done in the name of a church, and the narrow-minded, judgmental, deceptive or manipulative actions of others in the name of God,” the Rev. Benjamin David Hutchison said.

He believes that CUMC is different in many ways, but especially in welcoming all types of people from all walks of life.

“This church understands that it is difficult for people to make it to church. Some people have anxieties about entering into a church building, some are worried about what others will say, others are apprehensive about being bored and some believe but are afraid they are still labeled by their past,” Hutchison said.

So this week, CUMC urges the community to maybe try a different church. Stop in and see what all the buzz has been about. Watch the Rev. Hutchison ‘perform,’ hear the word of God and the music performed by angels.

The Cassopolis United Methodist Church is located at 209. S. Rowland St. the Parking lot off of O’Keefe Street and is handicap accessible.
