Niles school board changes after election

There will be a change on the Niles Community Schools Board of Education.

Incumbent Mark Wortham was the only member of the board not to be re-elected in Tuesday’s election, according to results obtained from electionmagic.com.

Newcomer Leigh Erica Jones received the most votes with 1,798, followed by incumbents Brent Wright 1,649 and Greg O’Toole 1,636. Wortham brought in 1,574 votes. The candidates were vying for three open seats.

Incumbent Jeff Curry secured 2,364 votes running uncontested for a partial term on the school board.

In the race for Brandywine school board, Jerry Tibbs, Dennis Hinsey, Ralph Skinner and Jason Spitler were elected to the board. Tibbs got the most votes with 759, while Hinsey had 744, Skinner 736, Spitler 628 and August Garritano 579. Ronald Geer had no votes in the race for four open seats.

In Buchanan, Sandy Tobler, James DeVlaminck and Dennis Wentworth were elected to the school board. Only three people were running for three open seats.
