What we know about Aaron Miller

Upfront, let me say I am on the Committee to Elect Mike Moroz. I support and believe in Mike.

That said, this is what we know about Aaron Miller:

Aaron is affiliated with the Tea Party. He has appeared with them several times, and stated that he would join the Cass County Tea Party since St. Joseph County doesn’t have one.  As such he will be pressured to vote the party line on bills, many that are created by outside groups like ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council).

Aaron left his first year teaching job in the Sturgis Public Schools in the middle of the school year to take his present job teaching in Middlebury, Indiana, leaving administrators scrambling to fill his position.

From Aaron’s website, or in response to questions submitted to his website:

Aaron supports abolishing gun registration, and will vote to allow concealed carry of firearms in currently banned areas, including stadiums, hospitals, churches and schools.

Aaron does not belong to his teachers union in Indiana, and supports “Right to Work” in Michigan.

Aaron says he is pro environment, yet thinks “fracking” is safe. Local bans, which he advocates, have been legally denied by the Republican controlled State Legislature.

Aaron supports the Senior Pension Tax, with some ceilings raised.

While Aaron may be well intentioned, his affiliation with the Tea Party will render him ineffective as a legislator, and his stands on issues do not serve the interests of all the citizens of the 59th District. I urge you to learn more about both of the candidates running to be your Representative in Lansing and make an informed decision that will serve our district best.

You can see Aaron and Mike in their first debate at Southwest Michigan College on Oct. 13, by going to the League of Women Voters website www.lwvbcc.org. A call in radio debate on WBET 99.3 is scheduled for Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
