Alice Theresa (Krizinski) Lee, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at The Timbers of Cass County.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at 1:00 PM, at the Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac, officiated by Father Kevin Covert. Family and friends gather before the mass at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, Michigan. from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

Alice was born Aug. 11, 1927, in Dowagiac to her parents Frank and Francis (Knopinski) Krizinski. Alice was a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, she graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in 1946. On Nov. 25, 1948, She married Marion Lee and they had celebrated 23 years of marriage before his passing on Jan. 18, 1971.

Alice worked as a salesperson for most of her life, beginning at the Fair Store in downtown Dowagiac, when the Fair Store closed she continued her career with Paul’s Department Store, The Hallmark Store and finally retiring at the age of 80 from Mr. K’s warehouse. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance, and a devout member of the Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. Alice was often found having lunch or coffee with her friends at Caruso’s, after retirement she loved spending her time on her back patio, having coffee, eating her lunch or just enjoying the outdoors. Alice was known as one of the kindest and sweetest ladies you had ever had the privilege to meet; Dowagiac has truly lost a patron of this city.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Michael of Texas, and David (Marilynda) of Dowagiac, her very precious granddaughter Katelyn (Cody Williams) Lee also of Dowagiac. Her sisters; Dorothy (Edmond) Smola and Joan (Ron ) Blahuta of Decatur, Michigan and Sylvia (Don) Blake of Lafayette, Indiana. Her son in law Mike and daughter in law Pat Small of Niles, Michigan, their children (her adopted grandchildren); Michael (Nikki) Small, Danny (Sara) Small, Erin (Casey) Small, Mary (Ben) Brown, several adopted great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, beloved friends and very special neighbors. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marion, her daughter Patricia A. Lee Small in 1976, her brothers Roman “Hook” (Kaye), Ted (Kathleen), Abe (Beva), Zigmont (Gladys), Leo (Ruby), and her sisters Catherine Hazel and Irene (Harold) Schmidt.
