The MHSSA playoffs are out of reach for the Dowagiac varsity football team, but that does not mean they are finished.

The Chieftains (3-4) still have plenty to play for these final two weeks of the season.

Dowagiac needs to win both games — Friday night’s game at Paw Paw and the Berrien Springs road game Oct. 24 — if it wants to finish above .500.

The Redskins (4-3) also have plenty to play for as a pair of wins would get them into the post season.

Paw Paw is coming off a 62-0 victory over Coloma last Friday night in which is racked up 238 yards through the air on 11-of-14 passing and two touchdowns.

Jay Doll hit three different receivers during the contest, with Jacob Vorce finishing with 101 yards on four catches and a touchdown.

Doll also did it with his feet, rushing for 60 yards on five carries and five TDs.

Julian Newell also had four receptions for 76 yards and Jared Yarbrough caught one pass for a touchdown.

Ian VanDenberg was the leading rusher for the Redskins with 77 yards and a touchdown.

Dowagiac was led by Brandon Hatch’s 129 yards on 20 carries.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
