RICHLAND — The Niles volleyball team went 2-1 at the Gull Lake Mini Tuesday.

Niles defeated Kalamazoo Christian 25-16, 25-12 before losing to Vicksburg 25-21 and 25-22.

The Vikings rebounded to defeat Delton-Kellogg 25-21 and 25-18.

“I knew Vicksburg would be a tough team,” Niles coach Jenny Nate said. “They have a couple very strong hitters. We made more errors than we should have, and that can’t happen against a team like that.

“Going into the third match against Delton Kellogg, I told them we need to finish strong and aggressive because we want to end tonight how we want to begin against St. Joe tomorrow night at home.”

Niles will host the Bears in a key SMAC West Division match. The Vikings and St. Joe are currently in a three-way tie with Lakeshore for second place.

Niles is now 21-10-3.
