David Paul Overhulser, 58, died peacefully Oct. 8, 2014 while resting at his Edwardsburg home following a year of suffering acute myeloid leukemia (AML), also known as acute myelogenous leukemia or acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL).

He was born July 12, 1956 in Elkhart, Indiana, to William Overhulser and Josephine Ummel.
His two sons, Daniel Overhulser and Matthew Overhulser, as well as father and three brothers — Joseph Overhulser, Lyle Overhulser and Jim Overhulser, survive David.

He was preceded in death by his mother and also by Mikey Boner, a fellow rider and close friend.
A doctor he respected and trusted had recently suggested David should “live as well as you can for whatever time you have left,” and that is exactly what David did. During previous years, David had competed in amateur as well as professional motorcycle hill climbing and was a member of the Goshen Iron Horsemen and A.B.A.T.E. motorcycle organization. He was a skilled water-skier and a NASCAR fan who was thrilled when his favorite driver won the last race he ever saw. David was self-employed for 25 years as a carpenter.
A celebration of life gathering for relatives and friends will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at the American Legion Post 365, 25751 US-12 in Edwardsburg.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Visit www.findagrave.com to read more about David.

Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
