Shirley D. Jarman, 75, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at Lakeland Hospital while surrounded by family.

Shirley was born on April 14, 1939, to James and Gertrude (Rice) Lofton in Noxapater, Mississippi. In 1957 Shirley wed J.T. Jarman at a ceremony in Niles, Michigan. Together the two had five children. Shirley retired from Simplicity Pattern Company where she held many positions including, pattern folder, security guard and secretary.

Shirley loved to spend time with her family, especially when her grandchildren were involved. She was great at sewing and crocheting and enjoyed making gifts for others.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude; son, Michael Jarman; sisters, Jean Lofton and Katherine Saujon; and brothers Jimmy, Buddy and Ray Lofton.

Shirley is survived by her husband, J.T. Jarman; children, Leona “Dolly” Matthews, SSGT Jack Lee Jarman (retired), Steven Jarman all of Niles and Tammy (Guy) Mansfield of Decatur, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and brother Pete (Mary) Lofton of Maysville, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at Brown Funeral Home at 1 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
