Christopher Stephenson, 35 years old of Brooksville, Florida, formerly of Edwardsburg, Michigan passed away on Sept. 7, 2014. Christopher was born Feb. 1, 1979 in Niles, Michigan the son of Rick and Billie Jean (Beardslee) Stephenson. Christopher graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1997, where he was on the varsity football team, was the manager for the varsity basketball team and was a member of the varsity choir. Christopher loved Edwardsburg High School, being an EDDIE and all of his friends at high school.

Christopher was also very active in 4-H, at the Cass County Fair for six years, where he raised and showed pigs, winning many ribbons for his efforts. This activity was brought about from his love of spending much of his childhood at his grandparents farm in Cassopolis. There he also gained his love of hunting with his dad, his grandpa and his uncles. His love of the farm and hunting stayed with him throughout his life. He was a sports enthusiast, who loved U of M football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In 1998 Christopher moved to Florida and was most recently employed by Florida Lift Systems in Orlando. While there he was known as a hardworking, good employee. He was also the owner of Redneck Towing.

Christopher is survived by his parents Rick and Billie Jean Stephenson of Parrish, Florida, his brothers; Douglas Stephenson of Parrish, Florida, Michael (Melissa) Mack and Philip (Sharon) Mack, both of Goshen, Indiana, his paternal grandmother Patricia Stephenson of Cassopolis, Michigan, four nieces; Emily and Morgan Mack, Shelby Mack and Sadie Stephenson, two nephews; Caden and Colin Mack, many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a host of friends both here in the Edwardsburg/Cassopolis area and in Florida. Christopher was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Stephenson and his maternal grandparents, Philip and Patricia Beardslee.

A Memorial Service of Remembrance will be on Oct. 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Cassopolis United Methodist Church, 209 South Rowland St., Cassopolis, Michigan. Family and friends may visit with Christopher’s family for one hour before the service at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Hutchison, pastor of the church.

Christopher’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the family. A memorial scholarship fund in Christopher’s name will be established at the Edwardsburg High School, in the athletic department.
