Donald “Tiny” Modlin, 54, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at his parents’ home, in Niles, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 22, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana to William L. and Junie M. (Fillmore) Modlin.

Tiny was employed for many years as a machine operator for Garden City Products. Prior to his illness, Tiny enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping, canoeing, gardening and spending time outdoors.

On July 22, 2006, Tiny married Carol Marie Xaver at a ceremony in Niles.

He was preceded in death by a nephew Brandon Modlin.

Tiny is survived by his wife Carol Modlin of Niles, his parents William and Junie Modlin of Niles, daughters, Amber (Todd) Modlin-Bugonia of South Bend, Amy Gulbranson of South Bend, step-sons; Michael (Chandra) Rogers of Niles, Sean Rogers of South Bend and Kyle Wagner of Niles, a step-daughter Amie Rogers of Greenville, South Carolina, a sister Sandy (Tim) Reichanadter of Niles, and brothers William “Bill” Modlin of Niles and Robert (Bonnie) Modlin of Niles, Chuck (Debbie) Modlin of Niles and eleven grandchildren.

In keeping with Tiny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life and sharing of memories will be held at a later time.
