Survey to aid in Niles supt. search

Niles Community Schools is conducting a community survey in order to gain input on what qualities and characteristics to look for in the district’s next superintendent.

Interim Supt. Michael Lindley, who is set to leave at the end of the school year, said it is critical to get as much response from the community as possible.

“It is always important to engage the community whenever you are making a leadership change,” he said. “We basically want to ask people what they think are the most important qualities for the next superintendent.”

The three-question survey is available online at surveymonkey.com/s/NCS_SS_1. Lindley said people don’t have to answer online. They may also drop off answers at the Westside Administration Building, 111 Spruce St., Niles. Answers may also be emailed to michael.lindley@nilesschools.org.

The deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Here are the survey questions:

• What are the points of pride for Niles Community Schools we need to communicate to prospective applicants?

• What are the points of pride for the Niles community and the area at large we need to communicate to prospective applicants?

• What are the most important skills and attributes you want the board to search for in the next superintendent?

The district will use the responses to create a brochure that will be used to advertise the superintendent position vacated when former Supt. Richard Weigel resigned in February.

Lindley said the brochure should be completed by the middle of October.
