Phyllis J. Marshall, 77 years old of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Aug. 28, 2014, while a patient at Buchanan Meadows Living Center, after an illness.

She was born Jan. 25, 1937 in Cairo, Ohio, the daughter of Byron and Clarabelle (Wood) Earl. She was married in Ada, Ohio on Sept. 2, 1956, as Phyllis Earl to Jerry D. Marshall. She was proud to support her husband as he was going to college to get his degree to teach. Phyllis faithfully worked to support her husband and then continued to support the family in being a ‘Stay at Home Mother’ and rear their family. She and Jerry came to Edwardsburg in 1964, for Jerry to become a teacher in Physical Science. Jerry passed to his rest on Dec. 20, 2000.

Surviving Phyllis are their children; Jane Marshall of Springfield, Oregon, Eric D. Marshall of Lawton and Joseph R. (Emily) Marshall of Dublin, Ohio. There are six grandchildren; Michael, Jonathon, Zachary, Blake, Ricky and Ashley. Other family surviving is a sister, Mary Parshall of Ohio and two brothers, David Earl and Leonard (Barbara) Earl, both of Florida.

Phyllis loved her friends and playing bridge with them in several groups and in tournaments. She loved to compete in card games. Also, she enjoyed all of her grandchildren, especially the part of spoiling them.

There will be a graveside memorial service for Phyllis on Sept. 20, 2014 in the Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg. Family and friends may gather at the grave from 1:30 to 2 p.m. The service will begin at 2 p.m. Cremation has taken place. She will be interred alongside her husband Jerry.
