Niles falls to Portage Northern 41-6

PORTAGE — Visiting Niles fell from the ranked of the undefeated after a 41-6 loss to Portage Northern Friday night.

The Huskies (3-1) scored 41 unanswered points and were poised for a shutout until Ra’Quan Glenn hit David Kennedy with a 12-yard touchdown pass with six seconds remaining in the game.

Grant McNally rushed for three touchdowns — 11, 2 and 4 yards — as Portage Northern ran for 304 yards and finished the night with 396 yards of total offense.

Josh Leiter led the Huskies with 89 yards on 13 carries. McNally had 11 caries for 62 yards.

Scheffert was 15-of-17 for 92 yards.

Niles (3-1) ran for 224 yards and threw for 174 yards, but had three interceptions.

Glenn was 3-of-5 for 70 yards through the air and Alex Harpenau 14-of-29 for 104 yards.

Glenn also caught 10 passes for 44 yards, while Sean Craig had three receptions for 67 yards and Warren Smith three catches for 70 yards.
