Edwardsburg girls win Shamrock Invitational

BERRIEN SPRINGS — The Edwardsburg cross country team captured the Shamrock Invitational, while Niles was second at Berrien Springs Thursday.

The Eddies scored 42 points, led by a fifth place finish by Abbie Smith, to easily outdistance runner-up Niles, which had 84 points.

Chelsea Best led the Vikings with a ninth place overall finish.

Bridgman was the runaway winner in the boys race as the Bees finished with 34 points. Host Berrien Springs was second with 79 points.

The Vikings finished third and Edwardsburg fourth.

Top finisher for the Eddies was Michael Higley, who was third overall with a time of 18:05. Devin Tomlinson led the Vikings with an eighth place finish and a time of 18:29.
