Jacob ‘Chuck’ Jernigan, Sr., of Niles

Jacob Charles Jernigan, Sr., 38, of Niles, Michigan died at 9:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1975, in South Bend, Indiana to William John and Judy Ann (Anderson) Jernigan, Sr. He attended Brandywine Schools, and had lived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 13 years, returning to Niles in 2013. He had been employed for many years with Bob’s Builders, and later with Davis Construction.

Chuck had volunteered as a coach for little league baseball. He was a great fan of drag racing, usually at the Osceola (Indiana) Dragway. Chuck was also a fan of the University of Michigan football team, and the Chicago Cubs baseball team. He enjoyed the Karaoke music experience, and his pet dog, Criminal.

He was married to Jeanna Biggs, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Kayla Renee Jernigan and Jacob Jernigan, Jr.; Chuck’s parents, William J. Jernigan, Sr. and Judy Jernigan, both of Niles; his sister, Billie Folwer and brother William Jernigan, Jr. both of Niles.

The family of Chuck Jernigan, Sr. will be hosting privately, at their house a time to share memories of Chuck. Contributions in memory of Chuck may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
