In a match that was originally scheduled to be played outdoors, Dowagiac defeated visiting South Bend Riley 25-17, 25-21 and 25-11.

As the two teams were warming up in the Dowagiac Union High School parking lot, a severe thunderstorm rolled through the area.

The match was moved indoors and the Chieftains had little trouble with Riley.

Amanda Badner and Anne Ennesser both had seven kills for Dowagiac.  Badner also had four digs and Ennesser had six blocks and two aces.
