Dorothy Hartranft Brunker, 87, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away on Sept. 1, 2014, with her family by her side.

Born March 2, 1927 in Cassopolis, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Isabel Hartranft. She grew up in Three Rivers, Michigan and graduated from Niles High School before attending Western Michigan University.

Dorothy was a long time resident of Scottsdale where she met her husband Fritz Brunker They were married in 1972. They kept busy working on home improvements, traveling, and caring for their grandsons. Dorothy enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life including gardening, arts and crafts, salsa dancing, and physical activities including hiking the Grand Canyon at age 65. She was involved in many organizations including MADD, Red Hat Society, Team Diabetes, and Book Club, but her passion was walking in races to raise money for many charitable causes. In her later years she was known for competing with her decorated walker and holiday costumes. Dorothy loved people and leaves behind many friends and family members who will miss her. Dorothy is preceded in death by her daughter, Maureen Kools. She is survived by her husband, Fritz Brunker, sister Dawn Fein of Niles Michigan, daughter Carrie (Tom) Abram, Grandsons Matt (Heather) Abram, Greg Abram, and Will Abram. She is also survived by stepson Ken, (Joy) Brunker, their sons Jason Brunker, Justin (Maren) Brunker and four great grandchildren, Allie and Sienna Abram, Brooklyn and Blair Brunker. A Celebration of Life service is being held in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Rose Garden Assisted Living Home, 9900 E. Redfield Rd, Scottsdale, Arizona, 85260.
