The Beckwith Theatre Company of Dowagiac will be conducting auditions for the final production of the 2014 season at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14

According to Director Jim Keech, the comedy, “Escanaba In Love,” is the third in the “Escanaba” series by Jeff Daniel (“Escanaba In Da Moonlight” and “Escanaba 1922”) concerning the deer camp run by the Soady family. The comedies have enjoyed great reception by “trolls” (those living below the Macinac Bridge) and “yoopers” (upper peninsula folks) alike.

Roles to fill are Alphonse Soady (70s), Albert Soady Sr. (50s), Albert Soady Jr. (20s),

“Salty” Jimmer Negammanee (40s), and Big Betty Balou (20s). Auditions will include cold readings of the script and an introduction to the “yooper” dialect.

Production dates are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, over two weekends

(Oct. 31, Nov. 1 2, and Nov. 7, 8, and 9). Curtain times are set for 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays. Further information may be obtained by calling Keech at (269) 621-4158 or the Beckwith Theatre at (269) 782-ROLE.
