Dorothy Young Knox, 96, of Scottsdale, Arizona, died Aug. 21, 2014. She was born July 6, 1918 in Niles, Michigan to Edna and Harry Young.

Dorothy was the eldest of six children. Dorothy met and married James E. Knox, D.D.S. in 1942. After their life took shape, their home was in Dearborn, Michigan with their children Philip (Chris), Idaho; Martha Culp, Colorado and David (Mary), Arizona.

Dorothy moved to Scottsdale in 1988, per her family’s invitation, to start a new life. Valley Presbyterian became her church and she volunteered at Scottsdale Osborn Hospital for 15 years. In 2003 she moved to Westminster Village and enjoyed friends and activities there.

Dorothy is survived by her children and grandchildren Peter (Robin), Caleb, Logan, Idaho; Jess (Lili), Kai, Mirabell, California; Aaron (Lisa), Carson, Ellie, Tessa, Colorado; Jason (Marissa), Arizona; Jessica, Oregon and Giny (Kellen) Wyoming. These loved ones are a joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Virginia Mooney and Helen Zabel; brothers Robert, Loren and Fred Young and son-in-law George Culp.
