Thomas J. Passmore, Jr. “Hootie,” 59, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, following an illness.

He was born to the late Thomas J. and Mary (Lovell) Passmore on Nov. 17, 1954 in South Bend, Indiana.

After high school, Thomas went on to work as a carpenter and later earned his Crew Chief Carpenter position as a result of his precision and hard work. Thomas or “Hootie” as many people knew him enjoyed his coffee time at the Kozy Kitchen where he was just part of the family. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, and enjoyed his time at the casinos both here in Michigan or Las Vegas. He was quite skilled not only in carpentry, but also had a knack for mechanical things and spent many an hour out in his garage tinkering with cars.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas is survived by his sister Janice (Joseph) Hren of Niles, a brother Ron (Marybeth) Passmore of Whitehall, Arkansas, three nephews; Will Passmore Whitehall, Arkansas, Joshua (Jennifer) Hren of Goshen, Indiana and Jeremy (Liz) Hren of Elkhart, Indiana, one niece, Mary Passmore of Whitehall, Arkansas, his faithful friend for many years Barbie Danley of Buchanan, and his devoted pups Ginger and Roxie.

Services for Thomas will be Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 11 a,n, at Brown Funeral Home in Niles with a time of visitation one hour prior.
