McGuire new Edwardsburg Primary principal

The Edwardsburg board of education hired Carrie McGuire as the Edwardsburg Primary principal at its regular meeting Monday night.

McGuire has a master of educational leadership degree from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education with an early childhood endorsement from Western
Michigan University.

She was a leader in early childhood education, the director of Title I and migrant summer school programs and a third-grade teacher for South Haven Public Schools.

The board also hired Micah Fox as the Edwardsburg High School industrial arts teacher.

Fox has a bachelor of science degree in industrial technology and physical education from Central Michigan University and an associate of arts degree from Jackson Community College.

Steven J. Minier was hired as the high school science teacher.

Minier is a graduate of Albion College with a bachelor of arts degree in biology.

In other action, the board:

• Established millage rates for 2014. The resolution will provide for the general fund for a levy of 18 mills on non-homestead property in the district to be used for operating purposes and 3.95 mills for debt to meet bond obligations.

• Heard the first reading of the NEOLA policy.

• The district reached a tentative agreement with the Edwardsburg Aide Personnel for a contract for the 2014-16 school year.

• The district set rates for substitute employee pay. It will remain the same as the 2013-14 school year.

• Set a daily rate of $90 per day for substitute teachers, which remains the same as the 2013-14 school year.
