The Niles District Library will be offering the following activities and events the week of Aug. 18.

Monday
• 2 p.m. Fun With Food
Kids and teens will learn how to make fun and healthy snacks.
• 3 p.m. Lego Free Play
Legos will be available in the story time room for free building. Ages 6 and up.
• 6 p.m. Meditation
Start the week with calm focus.
• 6:30 p.m. Yoga/Meditation
Tuesday
• 1 p.m. Kids Game Day
Visitors are invited to come down to the classroom and play their favorite video and board games.
• 3 p.m. Teen Game Day
Teens are invited to come down to the classroom and play your favorite video and board games.
• 6 p.m. Family Science Night:
Bill Nye: The Science Guy, Science Story time, Experiment
Wednesday
• 9 a.m. to noon The Wednesday Morning Club (reading/craft day)
All ages, skills and interests, including special needs adults, are welcome.
• 9:30 a.m. Squealers
A weekly story time for children age birth to 18 months
• 10 a.m. Squigglers
A weekly storytime for children 18 months to 3 years
• 10:30 a.m. Story time
Songs and stories for preschoolers 3 to 5 years
• 11 a.m. Squigglers
A weekly storytime for children 18 months to 3 years
• 1 to 3 p.m. Job Fair
A changing mix of six to 10 employers at each keep this fair constantly new. Employers can register for a free table at tinyurl.com/nilesjobfair
• 1:30 p.m. Storytime
A special storytime for children 3 to 5 years
• 4 to 6 p.m. Gaming
Bring your deck or character sheets. Several games are running at once.
• 6:30 p.m. Readers Circle
This book group meets monthly, and new members are welcome. Books are available at the Info Desk. Aug. 20: “Weird Sisters” by Eleanor Brown; Sept. 17: “The Forest Unseen” by David George Haskell.
Thursday
• 10:30 a.m. Story time
Library staff will host songs and stories for preschoolers 3 to 5 years
• 1 p.m. Mahjong
Volunteers are available weekly to teach you how to play American Mahjong.
• 1:30 p.m. Story time
Songs and stories for preschoolers 3 to 5 years
• 4 p.m. Teen Movie Night
Join us for movies and popcorn from 4 to 6 p.m. in the classroom. This week we’re showing “Stardust.”
Saturday
• 3 p.m. Family Movie: Cars
• 5 p.m. Gallery reception for artist Fred G. Hoekstra
Library staff invites visitors to come see the amazing work on display by artist Fred Hoekstra during this casual reception. Hoekstra will have a brief question and answer session, and will be available for discussions afterward.
