Patricia D. “Patti” Lytle, age 61 years of Niles, Michigan died at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan following a brief illness.

She was born on Feb. 14, 1953 in Niles to Jack C. and Barbara J. (Ernsberger) Rhoutsong. She was graduated from Niles High School, and attended the Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has been employed at the Niles District Library.

Patti was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana and was active in many of the congregation’s ministries. She had volunteered with Junior Achievement, and participated with her husband as time period re-enactors, with a special interest in the pre-1840s. She enjoyed reading mysteries, camping, and collecting miniatures and depression ware. Her greatest interest was caring for her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

On Oct. 11, 1980 in North Stonington, Connecticut she married Barry W. Lytle with whom she celebrated last year the thirty-third anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes her husband, Barry Lytle and their daughters, Tiffany A. (& Dallas III) Rohrer of Elkhart, Indiana and Krystle J. Lytle of Niles; grandchildren Zoie Lytle, Phoebe Lytle, Cole Lytle, Dallas “D. J.” Rohrer IV, Madison Rohrer, and Memphis Rohrer; Patti’s mother, Barbara Rhoutsong of Niles; and Patti’s siblings, April (& Mike) Inman of Niles, Terry (& Craig) Martin of Fort Wayne, Indiana, David (& Sharon) Rhoutsong of Battle Creek, Michigan, a brother-in-law, Gennaro “Jerry” Cardella of White Pigeon, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Rhoutsong, and a sister, Nancy Cardella.

The funeral service for Patti Lytle will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 West Cleveland Road, South Bend (the entrance is on North Bendix Drive) with Pastor Reed Anderstrom officiating. Committal will be private, on Monday, at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Contributions in memory of Patti may be made to the Niles District Library. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
