The Edwardsburg Sports Complex and its Youth Advisory Council are joining forces to bring back the NFL Punt Pass and Kick competition to southwest Michigan on Saturday.

While the Punt, Pass and Kick used to be a regular staple in many communities, as the years have gone by, most towns have dropped the competition.

The Edwardsburg event is open to all southwest Michigan and northern Indiana participants. However, a boy or girl, ages 6 to 15, may only compete in one local event.

Organizers are hoping to draw at least 100 participants on Saturday.

The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick, powered by USA Football, is a competition for youngsters to showcase their abilities. Scores are based on both distance and accuracy.

There are age divisions for both boys and girls. The top finisher in each of the 10 age groups at the local level will advance to the section competition, which this year will be held Oct. 12 in Kalamazoo.

The competition will begin at 10 a.m. Participants may enter online at www.nflppk.com/competitions/register/index/18130 or they can register at the Edwardsburg Sports Complex on US-12 West of Edwardsburg beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Competitors must have proof of birth at the time of registration. Age classification is as of Dec. 31 at 11:59 p.m. of this year.

For more information you may call Patty Patzer at (574) 903-5228.

Sectional winners will have their scores compared with other sectional champions and the top four finishers from each pool of sectional winners advance to the team championship, which will be held at a Detroit Lions game at Ford Field in Detroit.
