Sundae Lou Dodd, 70, Dowagiac, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at her home in Dowagiac.

Sundae’s life began on September 25, 1943 in Dowagiac, the daughter of Fredrick and Alberta (Davis) Carpenter. She attended Dowagiac Union High School and was united in marriage on Aug. 29, 1970, to Terry L. Dodd, who preceded her in death in 2010.

She was employed for ten years at Sundstrand in Dowagiac and later worked in the meat department of Hardings Grocery in Dowagiac for 20 years. Sundae enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time. Her loving family includes her five children, Debra (Jerry) Zachary, Brenda (Randy) Diamond, Charles (Tracey) Rossow, Suzanne (Billy) Cook and Burton (Shelly) Dodd all of Dowagiac. She loved her 14 grandchildren; Brandon & Lynne Zachary; Daniea’l, Brooks & Nathan Diamond; Tony Green, Nicholas and Jacob Rossow; Nanah Davis; Elizabeth Aranda; Austin & Abigail Cook and Taylor & Terry Dodd and also loved her 8 great grandchildren; Maya Smith, Calvin Diamond, Matthew & Xander Davis, McKenzie Zachary, Colette Diamond and Eric Jr. and Janiase Murray as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves four siblings, Penny (Dave) Duncan, Ronald (Karen) Carpenter, Charles (Jackie) Carpenter and Cindy (Charles) Martensen, all of Dowagiac. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Charlotte Carpenter and Alberta Anders and one brother, Fred Carpenter. Sundae also had a very special person, Kathrine Wilder, whom she shared a longtime
friendship with.

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, friends will gather at Clark Chapel and Cremations Services, 405 Center Street in Dowagiac from 3 to 5 p.m. for a time of sharing and then a Celebration of Life service will be held at 5 p.m., Pastor Stacey Wilder officiating from Calvary Bible Church. Sundae will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac at a private family graveside service at a later date.
