Dean Hartman
Dean A. Hartman, 60, of Niles passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, suddenly at his home, of natural causes.
He was born to the late Lester and Charlotte (Laudenslager) Hartman on Dec. 8, 1953, in Niles, Michigan.
After graduating from high school Dean worked for Simplicity Pattern for more than 33 years until the company closed, and then continued to work for Bear Lake Fiber in Niles until his retirement.
Dean was a man who appreciated the outdoors. He loved to fish and especially enjoyed time up north at the family cabin in Crystal Falls, Michigan. Dean was very politically minded and always kept himself “in the know” with local, state, national and international politics and world affairs.
He took great enjoyment in guns and without a doubt was one of the biggest firework fans you had ever met. He was always active, and very rarely sat still even later in life when his health began to decline Dean was always on the go.
Those who knew Dean understood that spending time with his family was what brought the biggest smile to his face.
Dean will be remembered for his generosity, his gentle heart and his ability to always be there in time of need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Adam Hartman and his brother, Gayle Hartman.
He is survived by his son Jeff (Heather) Hartman of Niles; his five brothers, Mike (Renee) Hartman, Don (Carol) Hartman, David (Marcia) Erwin, and Chuck Erwin all of Niles, John (Becky) Hartman of Buchanan and his sister Leslie and Jim Overmyer of Niles. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Elizabeth and Hayden Hartman.
Memorial services for Dean will be at 11 a.m. Aug. 1, with an hour of visitation prior at Mission Hill Memorial Chapel, 61453 M-51, Niles, MI.
