11 running for board of education

Eleven people have filed petitions with the Cass County Clerk to run for spots on the Dowagiac Union School and Cassopolis Public School boards of
education.

Three positions on the Dowagiac school board are up for grabs during the general election on Nov. 4, all of which are presently filled by board officers: President Michelle Helmuth-Charles, Secretary Beth Davis and Treasurer Julia Smith.

All three will be seeking reelection in the fall.

Also running for the board is Ron Jones, Phyllis Anne Sarabyn and W. Douglas Kolmodin.

Cassopolis has four, four-year terms up for election on Nov. 4 during the General Election and one partial term.

Incumbents Susan Horstmann, George Calvert and John Bright have all filed for re-election.

Lisa Cutting, who was appointed to replace Lori Whitmyer in June, has also filed for re-election.

Jeremy Carlisle, who replaced Janet Hall on the board, did not file for re-election.

Deborah Deubner, who was interviewed when the board replace Hall, also filed for election.
