The man police suspect of stabbing a Dowagiac man in Vandalia earlier this week has been formally charged in Cass County court.

Charles Ray Eubanks Jr., 32, of Cassopolis, was arraigned on charges of assault with attempt to murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in county jail, with bond set at $200,000.

Eubanks is accused of attacking 46-year-old Mark Perkins with a knife during the early morning hours Sunday in the 60000 block of Main Street. Perkins told authorities that he was stabbed twice during a verbal altercation with his assailant.

The victim was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial hospital for treatment, where has since been released.
