Cassopolis Dental will be building a new facility in the near future according to Dr. John Hayman.

Hayman, a graduate of the University of Detroit, has been practicing in Cassopolis since 1990 and has simply outgrown his current location across from Harding’s on East State Street.

“This will be so great for Cassopolis and all of Cass County really,” he said. “We serve patients from all of Cass County and St. Joseph County. We see patients from Elkhart, some from Edwardsburg and some from Granger. We draw from a lot of areas.”

Hayman said that people come to Cassopolis for a lot of different reasons, such as the courthouse and the COA.

“My goal is to have a multispecialty office,” Hayman said. “Where people can come with their kids to get their braces, if they need a tooth extracted they can get that or if they need a root canal they can have a specialist right on staff. That is my goal.”

Hayman said that all those services may not be available when the facility is completed, but he plans on having his associates get specialized training so that they can perform those services.

“There are some things a general dentist cannot do even if you concentrate on that area,” he said. “You are not going to be able to do everything unless you have specialized training.”

The location of the new facility will be next to Cassopolis Outdoor Power on M-62 South.

Hayman said there is no current timetable on when construction will begin or be completed. He was hoping to have the project completed within a year of beginning construction.

“My thing was to get the vision first,” Hayman said. “We got the land and that was a big win for us because I knew we needed a larger parcel. It wasn’t that easy to find the land.”
