Charles L. Brooks, “Boxie,” 71, of Niles, who recently moved to Sebring, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Chuck was an avid golfer, won many golf tournaments and was the proud holder of three hole-in-ones.

He loved all types of sports and was a huge fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears. He was also a big NASCAR fan and never missed a race.

“Boxie” leaves behind his wife Judy Brooks of Sebring, Florida. His children are Casie (Mark) Smith, Kelly Brooks, Toby (Tammy) Brooks all of Dowagiac and Carie (Rob) Richcreek of Hartford, step-children Sharee Wilkey of Elkhart, Robert Jackson and Rich Mills of Dowagiac. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He is also survived by his brother Raymond (Lee) Brooks of Niles, a sister Diana (Joe) Floyd of Venice, Florida, and his Aunt Joann (Joe) Benjamin of Niles. Chuck also had many nieces and nephews who were very loved by him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Alyce Brooks and a sister Anita Kunnen and a stepdaughter, Cheryl Sink. His family and friends will celebrate his life at Mission Hills Chapel, Thursday, July 17th, from 10 a.m. to noon. A memorial service will be held by Father Kevin Covert of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church followed by the graveside committal service at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.

“Boxie” will be greatly missed by all, especially his wife, children and beloved Yorkie, Rambo.
