Dwain A. Huston, 88, of Dowagiac, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014, at The Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens small Chapel in Niles. Dwain was born April 29, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois to his parents Floyd and Gertrude (Ritter) Huston.

Between July of 1944 and July of 1946 he served his Country proudly by being a member of the U.S. Army.

During those years he earned the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Germany. After returning from the U.S. Army he married the love of his life, Bonnie Somers on Nov. 8, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana. Dwain worked at Bendix for 32 years, providing for his family.

He loved going fishing, watching his grandkids play baseball, watching NASCAR races and football games, going to the casinos, meeting with the morning coffee group at McDonald’s, and riding his bike around Dowagiac. Dwain is survived by his two children, Gary (Marguerite) Huston and Sherri Zablocki, both of Dowagiac; his grandchildren, Brian Huston, Eric Huston, Stacy (Rick) Gash and Jason Zablocki; his great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Solomon, Cody Huston, Zechary Huston, Tyler Huston, Taylor Truesdell, Titus Gash, Nicholas Zablocki, Ricky Gash and Lexy Daniel; a brother-in-law, Vic Starrett of Niles, and a sister-in-law, Audrey Huston of Dowagiac.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Bonnie; five sisters, Pauline, Sharon, Virginia, Geraldine and Doris and two brothesr, Ralph and Aubrey Huston.
