One arrested in drug seizure

Traffic stop yields three pounds of marijuana

Police found more than three pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop Friday morning on Michigan Highway 51 in Dowagiac.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, officers stopped a car with a single occupant in it on M-51 at approximately 11:45 a.m. for a traffic violation.

During the investigation, police discovered approximately three pounds of packaged and processed marijuana in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

The street value of the marijuana seized in the investigation is approximately $3,000.

The male driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for the possession with intent to deliver marijuana. The suspect was lodged in the Cass County Jail and will be arraigned in Cass County Fourth District Court. His identity will be released after arraignment.

The Dowagiac Police Department K-9 Unit assisted in this investigation.
