As construction nears completion on Lake Michigan College’s first-ever residence hall, the College invites families to an open house on the Napier Avenue Campus where prospective students can register for classes, apply for financial aid, and discover the benefits of living at Lake Michigan College.

The event, to be held Wednesday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., is free and open to anyone who wants more information about attending LMC.

“We’ve had a lot of interest from families who understand that campus living presents incomparable academic, social, and cultural opportunities for students,” stated LMC Director of Admissions, Doug Schaffer. “Those attending the open house will be able to take the first steps toward making their educational dreams a reality.”

Guests are invited to walk through the nearly finished, Beckwith Hall and see the surrounding beach volleyball court, community fire pit, and other outdoor feature locations. A furnished model suite will be open featuring amenities including a full kitchen, washer and dryer, free wi-fi, 42-inch flat panel television, furniture, free utilities, and access control into the suites and private bedrooms.

In addition to campus and residence hall tours, students can:

• Apply to live on campus

• Learn about student life and tour the Hawk’s Nest student activity center

• Register for fall classes

• Take academic assessments

• Apply for financial aid and meet with a counselor

• Meet with academic advisors to learn about the 100+ program and degree options

Schaffer added that even students not interested in on-campus living should still attend.

“The event will allow families to do everything they need to prepare for the fall semester so they can enjoy the rest of the summer care-free,” he stated.
